2019-11-13

Founded in 1922, Taiwan Government-General Taipei High School had undergone several changes of name and administration. In 1949, since the Koumingtang Government took over Taiwan,” Taiwan Provincial Teachers College” replaced the original name and received about 20,000 old books from the previous library. In 1967, it was reorganized as National Taiwan Normal University. In order to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the establishment of Taipei High School, the library of National Taiwan Normal University and the Graduate Institute of Taiwan History collaboratively published The Library Catalog of Taipei High School. Based on Taipei High School Library Classification, about 8,000 Japanese old books are categorized into the following subjects: general works, philosophy, religion, social science, language, science, technology, arts, literature, and history.

In August, 2013, Center for Digital Cultures of Academia Sinica collaborated with the library of National Taiwan Normal University to scanned about 1,000 old books. The Archives of the Institute of Taiwan History was responsible for cataloging the books and opening the digital records to the public. In the digitized items, a large proportion of books are in history, followed by the discipline of social science. The catalog is open to the public in Taiwan Archival Information System. According to the Copyright Act, some records can be viewed online and some can only be viewed in the Archives Reading Room.
