Records of Guanxi Region
The development of Guanxi area began in 1791, when Wei Agui of Zhuqian Village arrived the east side of Xinpu. This collection comprises land records, personal contracts, licenses, and allotment agreements among devisees of the Zhang family of Hudu Village, as well as relevant documents about Wei Agui’s offspring. It is a source for understanding the development of Guanxi area, especially the developing trace of the Zhang family, the uniqueness of Hakka written language, and the early interactions between the plain aborigines and the Han settlers. Besides, these documents are precious for studying women’s life from the late Qing to the early Japanese colonial period.

"Her History in Taiwan" Exhibition and Symposium Series

From March 29 to October 31, 2011, the Institute of Taiwan History (ITH) holds a special exhibition, entitled "Her History in Taiwan", on the second floor of the Joint Library of Humanities and Social Sciences. More than 60 exhibits are selected from the digital archives of the ITH, including marriage documents, contracts, photographs, diaries, and personal documents. This exhibition presents and represents histories of women and gender from various perspectives.

In order to promote studies on women's and gender history in Taiwan and to enrich the exhibition, the ITH will organize a series of symposiums and lectures and invite scholars and important women predecessors to share their precious experiences of life, as well as to examine the past and future development of women's history in Taiwan. Through these events, we hope to not only encourage more devotion to researches on Taiwanese women's history but also combine personal life stories with historical records to resonate the experiences of the public.

In the very first symposium, several outstanding female scholars in the filed of women's history are invited to share their experiences in studying women's history. Welcome to join us!
