The Chinese translated version of De Dagregisters van het Kasteel Zeelandia is released on Taiwan Diary Knowledge Bank

Taiwan was ruled by Nederland during 1624 to 1662. In this period, Dutch built Fort Zeelandia in Dayuan (now is Anpin, Tainan) as the political and economic center. In order to control the conditions of each colony, Vereenigde Oostindische Compangnie (VOC) asked every foothold in colony to record what happened in the colony day by day. These records were delivered to Nederland by passing Batavia. The manuscripts of these journals are archived in National Archief in Den Haag, Nederland. In the first four or five years, VOC did not request every foothold to write this kind journal. It became the routine business from 1629. These records are important historical materials for studying Taiwan history in the Dutch colonial period. Thus, Cao Yong-he collaborated with several scholars to sort out Taiwan related records from De Dagregisters van het Kasteel Zeelandia. These records started from 1629 and ended in 1662. The contents of journals show the details of how Dutch people managing Taiwan, local conditions of Taiwan, the records about shipment and trade. Besides, there are many records about Taiwan indigenous peoples. Tainan City Government invited Jiang Shu-sheng etc. to translate De Dagregisters van het Kasteel Zeelandia into Chinese. The Chinese translated version contains 4 books which were published during 2000 to 2011. Many thanks for the Department of Cultural Affairs, Tainan City Government’s and Jiang Shu-sheng’s authorization, now the Chinese translated version of De Dagregisters van het Kasteel Zeelandia is added in Taiwan Diary Knowledge Bank.
